Defect Saturation in a Rapidly Quenched Bose Gas

چکیده
We investigate the saturation of defect density in an atomic Bose gas rapidly cooled into a superfluid phase. The number quantum vortices, which are spontaneously created quenched gas, exhibits Poissonian distribution not only for slow quench Kibble-Zurek (KZ) scaling regime but also fast case mean vortex is saturated. This shows that caused by destructive collisions, early-time coarsening emerging condensate, further supported observation condensate growth lags quenching regime. Our results demonstrate effect beyond KZ mechanism, opening path studying critical phase transition dynamics using distribution.

Condensation dynamics in a quantum-quenched Bose gas.
By quenching the strength of interactions in a partially condensed Bose gas, we create a "supersaturated" vapor which has more thermal atoms than it can contain in equilibrium. Subsequently, the number of condensed atoms (N(0)) grows even though the temperature (T) rises and the total atom number decays. We show that the nonequilibrium evolution of the system is isoenergetic and, for small init...

متن کاملKibble-Zurek mechanism in a quenched ferromagnetic Bose-Einstein condensate
The spin vortices are shown to be created through the Kibble-Zurek (KZ) mechanism in a quantum phase transition of a spin-1 ferromagnetic Bose-Einstein condensate, when the applied magnetic field is quenched below a critical value. It is shown that the magnetic correlation functions have finite correlation lengths, and magnetizations at widely separated positions grow in random directions, resu...
متن کاملRapidly Quenched Kosterlitz-Thouless Superfluid Transitions
Rapidly quenched Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) superfluid transitions are studied by solving the Fokker-Planck equation for the vortex-pair dynamics in conjunction with the KT recursion relations. Power-law decays of the vortex density at long times are found, and the results are in agreement with a scaling proposal made by Minnhagen and co-workers for the dynamical critical exponent. The superfluid...
متن کاملRenormalization Effects in a Dilute Bose Gas
The low-density expansion for a homogeneous interacting Bose gas at zero temperature can be formulated as an expansion in powers of √ ρa, where ρ is the number density and a is the S-wave scattering length. Logarithms of ρa appear in the coefficients of the expansion. We show that these logarithms are determined by the renormalization properties of the effective field theory that describes the ...
